  11. At the Boulder IETF meeting a group got together for an informal Birds
  12. of a Feather session to discuss the issue of finding resources in an
  13. internetworked environment.  John Veizades from Apple and Steve Deering
  14. from Xerox lead the meeting.
  15.  
  16. The meeting included a presentation of work in progress at the
  17. University of Colorado, Boulder.  Michael Schwartz presented work he has
  18. done on the location of personal information in an interneted
  19. environment.  Paper describing his work can be found on
  20. latour.colorado.edu in the directory /pub/RD.Papers/.

  22. Ralph Droms talked about his work on the Knowbot services.
  23.  
  24. John Veizades gave a description of two protocols that are used for the
  25. finding of arbitrary services in an interneted environment:

  28.    o Name Binding Protocol used by the AppleTalk protocol family to find
  29.      services.
  30.    o Network Binding Protocol which is part of the Xerox Network System
  31.      (XNS) protocol family.

  34. The group came to the conclusion that a Working Group should be formed
  35. to look into resource and service location metaphors.
  36.  
  37. Although the Chair is still to be determined, an interest list will be
  38. formed and an announcement of the interest list and the Working Group
  39. Charter is forthcoming.
